2018 Ford F-150 Will Get New Looks, Engines, and Be More Powerful Than Ever

The current generation of the F-150, which debuted for the 2015 model year, raised the half-ton pickup truck bar so high that the competition is still scrambling to catch up. Adding on an all-new twin-turbo V6 with best-in-class torque and towing, not to mention a new ten-speed automatic only widened its lead. Now, it’s clear that the 2018 Ford F-150 will be even more impressive, with a diesel engine, updates to every engine, and more love for the ten-speed auto.

That ten-speed automatic will help with gas mileage numbers across the board, with the 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 ostensibly having the best in efficiency and towing (which currently sits at 12,200 lbs.). Both the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 and 5.0-liter V8 are getting power and gas mileage upgrades, while the naturally-aspirated 3.5-liter V6 is being nixed for a new 3.3-liter V6 with similar outputs. Ford has even added new front end treatments to all seven trim levels, with a unique grille for each, and refined designs in back. Equipment mostly carries over, with a few notable tweaks.
